Prarthna Singh
Jaipur Deco, our collaboration with visual artist Prarthna Singh, archives two decades of Indian cinema hall architecture from the mid-50s to the mid-70s. Built by affluent families from the region, these theatres deviate from Nehruvian socialist styles to embrace international trends like Art Deco to mid-century, while holding onto the familiar oeuvres of Rajputana and Indo-Saracenic forms.
This limited-edition handmade box-frame created especially for Palace Atelier, includes six interchangeable archival prints. It can work both as a flat lay piece on a table or as a frame on the wall using the hooks provided at the back. The velvet that serves as a soft back for the prints to be emptied onto, is inspired by old jewellery cases.
