The Night Polo Ball or The Fiery Ball, invented by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 16th century, allowed polo to be played at night. Initially a wooden ball set ablaze, it evolved into a hollow metal ball with a gyroscope and oil lamp, ensuring the candle remains upright. This innovation enabled royal ladies to play polo at night while maintaining 'purdah'. Polo which is one of the world’s oldest team field sports and also known as the “Sport of Kings.” The members of the Royal Family of Jaipur have been avid Polo players and share a great passion for the sport.
